Placed order for this item and was supposed to ship no later than the 17th of March 2009. Received email today, Thursday, March 20, 2009 indicating order had been cancelled with no reason provided. Although this is probably a great product, you might do yourself a favor and choose another vendor. Evidentally they don’t know how to communicate with their customers.

Its been awhile, I like the soft start and quiet. Tools are getting better. Worked great in a jig I made. I put four stars for I don’t know what a five should be.

This is a good router. But the Bosch 1617 is better. Some of the fit and finish is cheap, and it is made in China and it shows. Overall, solid Hitachi design, but the Bosch is a simply better design. You won’t go wrong with this, but there is better. There seems to be a lot of grease in the collet that is not needed.

Ergonomics are good. The mechanics are a little cumbersome. You can do better.

I AM NEW TO WOODWORKING AND THIS IS MY FIRST ROUTER, THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS ROUTER IS THE INSTRUCTIONS. THEY ARE NOT WELL DETAILED AT ALL, STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH ADJUSTING HEIGTH OF BIT . HITACHI REALLY NEEDS TO WORK ON EXPLAINING THE OPERATIONAL ASPECTS OF THIS ROUTER BETTER, THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE EXPANATION IN FRENCH THEN THERE DOES ENGLISH, OVER-ALL VERY PLEASED WITH PURCHASE…
